INT-9128-SW Dual 128 x 128 Non-Blocking

Matrix Switch

Overview

The INT-9128-SW is a very large-scale digital matrix switch for signals having rates ranging from DC to 667 Mbps, and a total switching fabric bandwidth of over 170 Gbps. Its totally non-blocking and fully buffered switch architecture permits the user to arbitrarily connect any of 128 inputs to any one or more of 128 outputs. This combination of large-scale switching and high bandwidth coupled with a wide variety of signal types described below make the INT-9128-SW ideal for telecommunications, telemetry, ATE, laboratory and industrial applications. Its scale and versatility enhance the user's ability to "future-proof" designs of today for tomorrow's requirements.

Each INT-9128-SW input and output is actually two electrical signals; data and clock. Differential PECL signals are used for optimal performance. The unit accommodates all synchronous, asynchronous or burst data and clock formats, making possible the switching of virtually any type of bit serial data stream.  Applications in which rates exceed 200 Mbps may require the use of the companion sixteen channel INT-9128-DS unit for cable equalization, de-jitter and de-skew.

Inputs and outputs are via the rear panel, using standard 8-pin RJ-45 connectors and Category 5 cables. For applications requiring the switching of signals other than PECL our companion INT-9128-IOM product may be used. Each INT-9128-IOM chassis provides 16 slots for plug-in input and/or output converter cards. Each plug-in input card accepts one of a wide number of commonly used signal types such as RS422, RS423, RS485, TTL, ECL, LVDS, DS1, T1, DS3, T3, E1, E3, STS-1, STM-1 or OC-3 and converts this to the PECL signal format compatible with an INT-9128-SW input. Plug-in output cards perform the reverse function. This combination of the INT-9128-SW and INT-9128-IOM converters provide the user exceptional versatility for both the conversion and switching of large numbers and types of digital signals. Customized connector panels are routinely fabricated to individual customer requirements to simplify installation and cabling and to achieve direct plug to plug compatibility with customer equipments.

Control and status is provided via the front panel or via a rear panel 9-pin ‘D’ connector serial port conforming to EIA standard RS-232C. The operational configuration is maintained in non-volatile memory at all times and is restored when power is applied. The unit is a 6U (10 ½") high standard 19" rack mounted enclosure requiring 150 Watts of 120/230 VAC 50/60 Hertz power.
